Submissions

Want to submit to Quilt?

Here’s everything you need to know.

For academic submissions, we look for academic essays which critically engage with literature, which includes any form literary media, including plays, songs, films, television, video games, and even the analysis of images. 

For creative submissions, we seek works of poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, and other creative genres. All subjects and styles are welcome.

Submission Guidelines
  • If you would like to submit multiple works, please fill out the form separately for each submission.
  • The maximum number of submissions per writer is three. Anything after the third submission by the same author will be discarded.
  • Submissions files must be anonymized — do not sign your name on the piece.
  • The file name must be the title of the piece (i.e., “The Raven.docx” instead of “Quilt Submissions.docx”)
  • Submissions should be formatted in 12pt Times New Roman, with only the exception of concrete poetry.
  • Submissions should be saved as word documents (.doc or .docx), or as PDFs if you need to maintain non-standard formatting (e.g., concrete poetry).
  • The word limit for submissions is 2500 words. Submissions with more than 3000 words will not be considered.
