Want to submit to Quilt?

Here’s everything you need to know.

Submissions to Quilt are open to undergraduate students across all disciplines at Queen’s.

Academic submissions must use any piece of media (books, poetry, an art exhibit, films, music albums, etc.) as the primary touchstone of analysis or reflection. We accept both personal and scholarly formatted essays; both styles of submissions must not exceed 2500 words. Please use the MLA style guide & citations regardless of genre.

Creative pieces must be under 2000 words or they will not be considered. Aim for 1500 as a safe maximum, but overall, try to keep your creative work short, clean, and graceful. We accept all genres and encourage experimentation.

To avoid copyright or Turnitin complications, we ask that all submissions be limited to graded and returned works, recreationally composed works (i.e., not produced on commission or under employment), and previously unpublished works. Quilt does not take any ownership rights.

TYPES OF WORK
